The library, with around 30,000 books ranging from natural history, anthropology and musical instruments, as well as periodicals, CDs, videos and audiotapes, is free and open to all for reference use.

There is a family room and also a study area, and children doing projects are welcome. There are also areas to plug-in laptops.

Snacks and simple lunches are available in the museum café, near the main entrance. While visiting the library it is worth spending a little time looking around the museum and the delightful 16-acre gardens. All free, except for major special exhibitions.
